WYANDOTTE — A con artist who highjacked a Facebook account on May 13 tricked a 59-year-old Wyandotte woman, by posing as her Facebook friend, into believing that she could pay a fee to receive a $75,000 federal grant.

The victim was convinced to send images of her driver’s license, Social Security card and bank account information, and was instructed to purchase 28 $100 Visa gift cards, and forward the codes. The con artist then stole the $1,600 remaining in the victim’s bank account.
