TAYLOR — Work on a year-long county road project is under way on Inkster Road between Ecorse and Van Born roads.
The project will include new concrete — including the Inkster-Ecorse intersection — new traffic signals at both Inkster-Ecorse and Inkster-Van Born; drainage, signing, pavement markings; and complete restoration.
This is the beginning of a lengthy four-stage process that will eventually include work on Ecorse Road between Birchdale Street in Romulus, and the westbound I-94 entry ramp in Taylor.
The project is scheduled to be completed July 1, 2022, barring unforeseen delays or inclement weather.
During Phase 1 of the project, northbound Inkster Road is closed between Ecorse and Van Born. Northbound traffic is being detoured westbound on Ecorse to Middlebelt. One-lane traffic southbound on Inkster will be maintained.
Once the northbound lane is finished, construction will switch sides and southbound traffic will be detoured.
Access will be maintained for all residents and businesses during the entire duration of the project. Specific information was mailed to all residents and businesses effected.
City officials recommend drivers avoid this area during the construction period, if possible.
