Drag racers cited; cars impounded

November 18, 2021 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

A Hamtramck man in a white 2013 Infiniti G37 and a Dearborn man in a black 2012 Ford Fusion were cited for drag racing the night of Nov. 7 on eastbound Michigan Avenue, east of Schaefer Road, and their cars were impounded.

The Infiniti driver, who was stopped at Michigan Avenue near I-94, said he was angry at the Fusion driver for initially tailgating him.

The Fusion driver, who was stopped by another police officer near Oakman Boulevard and Ford Road, said he was on his way home from work when the other driver revved his engine in challenge, and he decided to keep up with the other driver once the light turned green.

Both drivers were advised to contact Dearborn’s 19th District Court for an appearance date.
