MELVINDALE — Three men in their mid-20s stole $1,000 in bills and coins shortly after midnight Jan. 18 from the Shell gas station at 18609 Dix Road.

Surveillance footage shows three men dressed in dark clothes and face masks use a crowbar to pry open the front door to the business, the doorway to the payment counter and the cash register, which they emptied of banknotes, leaving the coins. They then entered the office, where they stole additional paper currency, as well as coins.

A witness saw the three men flee in a gray sport utility vehicle, which they drove north on Dix Road.
