DEARBORN — A 34-year-old Detroit woman was cited for larceny and contributing to the delinquency of minors the night of Jan. 24 when she tried to steal items at the self-checkout lane at Walmart, 5851 Mercury Drive, by giving them to her 8- and 9-year-old daughters to hide in bags without scanning them.

Loss prevention personnel, who recorded the fraud on a surveillance camera, stopped the woman and her daughters when they attempted to exit the store with $98 worth of stolen merchandise.

The woman was advised to contact 19th District Court in Dearborn within 14 days for an appearance date. Surveillance footage of the fraud was given to the police detective bureau.
