ALLEN PARK — An erratically driving Gibraltar woman was arrested the night of Jan. 29 for drunken driving and having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle after police officers approached her at Valero, 7200 Allen Road.

The woman, who smelled strongly of intoxicants, had 11 empty beer cans littering the floor of her car, as well as several unopened cans of beer in a case on the passenger side floor. She said she had been drinking at a friend’s house in Taylor and was headed home.

The police officers noticed that her speech was slurred and her eyes were watery, and she failed numerous field sobriety tests.

A preliminary breath test was administered, and the woman had a blood-alcohol content of 0.32, four times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.

Her vehicle was impounded and towed, and she was taken to the police station, where she was booked, monitored and held.
