ALLEN PARK — The Dearborn Bomb Squad helped the Allen Park Police Department Feb. 28 when a woman cleaning out a garage of a late relative came across what appeared to be a Vietnam War-era device with sticks of dynamite attached.

Nearby homes were evacuated and streets were blocked off while the bomb squad’s robot x-rayed and evaluated the item before moving it to a containment vessel. It was then determined that the device was a non-functional prop used for training purposes, which the bomb squad took for proper disposal.
