MELVINDALE — An email concerning a handgun purchase, which was reportedly charged to a woman’s PayPal account, was reported March 7 by the message recipient.
She said she did not have a PayPal account, but was worried about the firearm purchase.
The police officer called the phone number on the email, and when he identified himself, the phone respondent disconnected the call.
The police officer pointed out the spelling errors in the email, which are red flags for scams. He advised her not to open emails from any source with which she is not familiar.
