DEARBORN — A plumber’s apprentice and a friend who had permission to remove copper piping from the basement of a building at 5000 Fairlane Drive triggered a breaking and entering alarm with security personnel at 8 p.m. March 23, who did not know anyone would be on site.

The two also had disabled the security cameras. After confirming their story and conducting a sweep of the building, they were allowed to continue to remove the old copper piping.
