A damaged suspect vehicle was discovered several blocks from the scene of a late-night April 17 hit-and-run crash at Allen Road and Coleman Street.
The victim, whose black Ford F-150 pickup was struck when it was parked on Coleman Street, said he was attending a family function at a nearby banquet hall when the hit-and-run occurred. A witness went into the hall to find the victim vehicle owner, and the owner went outside, where he discovered white paint transfer and debris from the at-fault vehicle.
The witness also provided a license plate number.
Police officers then went to Hanna Street, where they found a 2014 white Ford transit van, with damage consistent with the crash.
When the police officers knocked on the door of the vehicle owner’s house, which had a surveillance camera, no one answered the door.
Given the preponderance of evidence, the vehicle was impounded and towed.
The police officers then returned to the crash site, and gathered debris pieces which they hoped to match to the impounded van.
