WYANDOTTE — Wyandotte Public School District employee Ronny James Sheeler, 31, was taken into custody April 22 and charged with third and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct involving a student.

He was arraigned by 36th District Court Magistrate Laura Echartea, who granted the defendant personal bond. May 5 is his next court date.

Deputy Police Chief Archie Hamilton praised the quick and decisive actions of the school administration, which enabled police detectives to preserve and collect items essential for criminal prosecution.

“The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office deserves a great deal of credit for their hard work and tenacity,” he said. “The collaborative effort by our detective bureau, the school administration and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office was truly remarkable.”

Hamilton said that while he was disappointed that the suspect was out on bond, it will not deter the Wyandotte Police Department from aggressively pursuing criminals and seeking justice for victims.
