RIVERVIEW — A drunken driver, a 34-year-old Rockwood man, was taken into custody by police officers the night of May 5 after a witness called 911 about his erratic driving on Fort Street.
The suspected drunken driver was found parked on Longsdorf Street, in front of Riverview Community High School, with the vehicle parked but running.
The driver, whose speech was slurred and whose movements were lethargic, smelled of intoxicants. He failed multiple field sobriety tests, and refused to take a preliminary breath test.
He was taken into custody, and before his vehicle was impounded and towed, a half empty pint of Fireball whiskey was found in the car.
After booking, the man consented to a blood draw at Beaumont Hospital, Trenton.
He was cited for operating under the influence of alcohol.
