ALLEN PARK — A man was arrested at 1:55 a.m. May 8 for operating while impaired, with a high blood alcohol concentration, after a police officer initiated a traffic stop at Wick Road and Laurence Avenue after seeing him stop way past stop signs, nearly hit a curb and flashing his high beam headlights on and off.

The man, whose speech was slurred, and who smelled of intoxicants, admitted to having had four beers, with his last drink two hours earlier.

He failed multiple field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.182, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.

He was handcuffed and taken to the police station, where he was booked and held, while his vehicle was impounded and towed.
