WYANDOTTE — A defective headlamp spotted by a police officer at 12:51 a.m. May 14 in the 1900 block of 2nd Street prompted a traffic stop, but the driver, a 25-year-old Detroit man, would not comply, and accelerated, trying to outrun the police.

The man then turned into a parking lot and tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

The driver had no vehicle insurance, was using an improper license plate, did not have a valid driver’s license and had three outstanding warrants from 27th District Court.

He was taken into custody, and his vehicle impounded.
