HEIGHTS — A man who was unhappy that he couldn’t buy alcohol at 5 a.m. decided instead to steal it the morning of May 13 from 7-Eleven, 5697 Pelham.

In Michigan, alcohol sales are prohibited from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 2 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

A store clerk said the thwarted customer waited until she was busy with other customers, then grabbed an 18-pack of Modelo beer and left the store without paying for it.

She said the man was 5 feet to 5 feet 2 inches tall, Hispanic, and wearing a red baseball cap. He drove off in an older model blue Ford Escape.
