Senior citizen scammed

TRENTON — A con artist posing as a bank employee called a 75-year-old woman on June 13, and claimed there was fraudulent activity on her account, as a ruse to gain her personal information for identity theft purposes.

Right after the call, after providing her personal information over the phone, the woman called another number for her bank, and learned that the earlier call was a phishing expedition. She put a hold on her bank accounts and credit cards, and flagged her credit report so that no new accounts could be opened up in her name. As of June 16, the date of her police report, the woman had not lost any money from her bank accounts.
