HEIGHTS — An identity thief hacked a 60-year-old Dearborn Heights woman’s cell phone account on June 21, changing her phone number and deactivating the smart phone, the victim reported.
The woman was able to get her cell phone provider to reactivate the account, which is linked to her Discover credit card. Upon further investigation, she learned that on June 24, an unauthorized charge of $15.89 for an online purchase was debited to her account. She also learned that the identity thief changed the phone number associated with her credit card account.
On June 30, when the police report was filed, there were no suspects, and no other leads.
