SOUTHGATE – Fan-favorite Fudgy’s Ice Cream, located across from city hall, scooped up second place in WCSX-FM’s recent “Game of Cones.”
Mayor Joseph Kuspa congratulated the owner and staff at the July 20 City Council meeting for making it to the final round of the competition.
“The contest involved voting for your favorite ice cream parlor throughout southeast Michigan,” he said. “Each week, shops were paired up, and one was eliminated, and Fudgy’s made it to the final round this past week, but was beat out by Vicky’s Ice Cream in Redford Township.”
Kuspa said coming in second was still a positive result for owner Alex Leonard.
“He appreciated everyone’s support and all the good free advertising,” Kuspa said. “Fudgy’s will still remain a Southgate favorite, and we thank them for entering the contest and all the positive attention the radio station competition provided our great city.”
