WYANDOTTE – A National Purple Heart Day remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Purple Heart Memorial Garden at Superior Boulevard and Biddle Avenue.
Held by Wyandotte Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1136, the 30-minute ceremony will honor those in the U.S. military who were wounded or killed in combat.
Superior will be closed from Biddle to First Street from 1 to 3 p.m., providing room to allow for social distancing during the gathering.
Purple Heart Day, first observed in 2014, was established to remember those who were killed or wounded while serving, and is considered a day to give back.
