RIVERVIEW — A 65-year-old Wyandotte woman was arrested the afternoon of July 22 for operating under the influence of alcohol while driving north on Fort Street, then east on Pennsylvania Road in a silver sport utility vehicle.
Calls to dispatch had alerted police officers that the driver was unable to control her vehicle, weaving in and out of her lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated, and the police officer noticed her pupils were pinpoints, and her movements were slow and lethargic. She admitted to drinking alcohol earlier when bowling.
The woman failed numerous standardized field sobriety tests, and her chronic obstructive pulmonary disease prevented her from accurately performing a preliminary breath test, so she was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw, while her vehicle, a Ford Escape, was impounded and towed.
She was then taken to the Riverview police station, where she was booked and held.
