MELVINDALE — A 63-year-old Melvindale man learned July 5 from his mail carrier that his mail was being forwarded to a South Carolina address, and in mid-July he learned that someone had fraudulently applied for a credit card in his name.

The victim told police officials on July 30 that he suspects a former neighbor, a 20-year-old man, who moved in June, and with whom he did not get along.

The victim filed a report with the postal inspectors, and flagged his identification and address in a manner to discourage further fraud.
