RIVERVIEW — A 26-year-old Detroit man was arrested for operating while impaired at 1:36 a.m. Aug. 27 near Pennsylvania Road and Fort Street after he made an illegal turn, and his vehicle’s license plate indicated that the vehicle was uninsured.
The man, who smelled of intoxicants, was unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to having two shots of alcohol an hour earlier.
He failed multiple standardized field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.145, almost twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
An open bottle of liquor was found in his car and disposed of before the vehicle was impounded and towed, and he was taken to the Riverview police station, where he was booked and held.
