MELVINDALE — Multiple unauthorized purchases to a 59-year-old Melvindale man’s debit card occurred Sept. 2 after he used the card to purchase some bagels and coffee at a Dearborn shop.

The victim said a $2,060 purchase at a jewelry store in Dearborn prompted a fraud alert text from his financial provider.

Earlier in the day, unauthorized transactions of $424, $75.18, $7.91, $59 and $2.99 were debited to his card.

The victim said his debit card had been canceled and he was directed to file a police report to initiate an investigation by his financial institution.
