
A 23-year-old Detroit man was arrested and charged in the Nov. 12 shooting of a 32-year-old Detroit man at Allen Park Motor Lodge.

A Detroit man was arraigned Nov. 15 at the 24th District Court after being accused of a shooting Nov. 12 at Allen Park Motor Lodge.
Christopher Deandre Jones-Weathers, 23, pleaded not guilty to four counts: attempted assault with intent to murder, assault with the intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, and two weapons felony firearm charges.
Bond was set at $500,000. A probable cause conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 21. via Zoom. A preliminary examination of the evidence against Jones-Weathers is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 28 in 24th District Court.
The victim, Desmond Burks, 32, of Detroit resident was shot multiple times at the motel. Police responded to a call at 11:05 p.m. for shots fired. Burks was transported to Oakwood Beaumont, Dearborn, hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Burks had surgery Nov. 15 and was in stable condition.
According to investigators, the victim and suspect knew each other.
Police executed a search warrant at Jones-Weathers’ house, and he was taken into custody along with an unidentified woman. Police also recovered the gun allegedly used in the shooting.
