TAYLOR — A 40-year-old Woodhaven man who admitted to snorting a dime bag of heroin the night of Nov. 26 crashed his green 2005 Jeep Liberty into a tree on the lawn of Taylor High School.

Responding police officers discovered the man unconscious and the vehicle heavily damaged.

A witness said the man had run a red light earlier, then had stopped in a traffic lane, passed out behind the wheel, while on southbound Beech Daly near Goddard, before taking off at a high rate of speed and crashing into a tree on the high school lawn.

The driver regained consciousness after being administered Narcan in an ambulance, and was taken to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor for a blood draw and treatment of his crash-related injuries. It was believed that the man had broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

He had no prior convictions for operating while impaired, but he was driving without ever having acquired a driver’s license.
