Beer cans fall out of hit-and-run pickup

LINCOLN PARK — When a pickup driver swerved and damaged the front bumper of another driver’s vehicle the night of Oct. 29, on Dix Road near Alard Avenue, the fact that beer cans fell out of his truck cab when he stopped and opened his door was a harbinger of things to come.

The at-fault driver offered to pay for the damage, but when the victim said he was calling the police, the man hurried back to his pickup and drove off, but not before the victim got photos of the man, his vehicle and the license plate.

The responding police officer queried the license plate, and the photo of the registered owner matched the image of the fleeing driver, who had a hit-and-run letter mailed to his address of record.
