TAYLOR — A 51-year-old Taylor man was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol the night of Nov. 24 after his red 2005 Dodge Dakota struck a parked blue 2011 Ford Fiesta and ended up in a ditch in the 15600 block of Beech Daly Road.
The man, who smelled of intoxicants, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, admitted to having a 12-pack of beer and that he drank eight before he left his friend’s house in Dearborn Heights.
He failed multiple standardized field sobriety tests, and was arrested for operating while impaired. When he was searched, a police officer found several large chunks of loose marijuana in a pants pocket.
The Dakota was impounded and towed, and the man was then taken to Beaumont Hospital, Trenton, for a blood draw, after which he was admitted for medical evaluation because of the vehicle crash.
