Trash and recycling will be on a normal schedule for both holiday weeks
DEARBORN – City of Dearborn buildings will be closed in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and most buildings will also be closed in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Since Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day all fall on weekend days this year, the city will observe the holidays on the weekdays before and after each weekend.
City buildings, including the Dearborn Administrative Center, 19th District Court, libraries, Senior Services, and the Senior Center offices at Ford Community & Performing Arts Center will be closed on Dec. 23 and 26. They will also be closed on Dec. 30 and Jan. 2, 2023.
Trash and recycling collection will occur as normal on all observed holiday weekdays and will be collected Dec. 23 and 26, and again on Dec. 30 and Jan. 2.

The COMPAC, originally scheduled to be closed Dec. 24 and 25, also will be closed on Dec. 23 because of the predicted severe winter weather. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 1.
The Dearborn Ice Skating Center will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25. The DISC will be open from from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 31, and will close again on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
SMART Transportation services, a function of Senior Services, will continue to operate from Dec. 27 to 29 for dialysis and other medical appointments. The transportation service will be closed all other days from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2.
All city buildings will reopen on Jan. 3.
