DEARBORN — A skittish shoplifter fled from Big Lots, 5600 N. Mercury Drive, without any stolen property the night of Nov. 25 after the would-be shoplifter saw an employee calling for police officer backup.
The store employee said the shoplifter is a habitual thief, who fills up a shopping cart before running out the door with the unpaid items. The man has been seen driving a black Chevy Impala with no license plate.
The man was described as black and older, with a stocky build, and walking with a limp. He was wearing a blue sweater.
The employee said that corporate policy forbids them from confronting or stopping a shoplifter.
