MELVINDALE — The image of a man who stole coins and flashlights overnight from an unlocked GMC Sierra was captured on surveillance camera footage and turned over to the police detective bureau.

The victim said two rolls of nickels, two rolls of dimes and two rolls of quarters, along with a battery-operated flashlight valued at $10 and a rechargeable flashlight valued at $50, were stolen from a GMC Sierra pickup while it was parked in the 19500 block of Harman Street.

The suspect was seen leaving the area on foot, while testing out one of the stolen flashlights.
