TAYLOR — A black 2004 Saturn Vue was stolen the morning of Dec. 30 from the parking lot of Silver Touch Landscaping, 23927 Ecorse Road, while its driver, a 47-year-old Gladwin man, was sleeping from 2 to 7 a.m. inside his work truck.
He said he left his car unlocked, with the keys on the front passenger seat.
The gate leading to the company lot had been left unlocked due to the snow conditions.
When the man awoke and saw that his car was missing, he initially thought his coworkers were playing a prank on him, and started placing phone calls and driving his work truck around the lot to look for the Saturn Vue.
Surveillance camera footage showed two people entering the lot at 4:30 a.m. and going through the work vehicles and taking items, then stealing the victim’s personal vehicle.
The Vue, which was paid off, was registered in his wife’s name. He said his work clothes and approximately $500 worth of tools were taken along with the vehicle.
The Saturn was listed in the Law Enforcement Information Network as stolen.
