DEARBORN — A 33-year-old Shelby Township man was taken into custody Dec. 21 for first degree retail fraud when he attempted to steal more than $1,200 in merchandise from Macy’s at Fairlane Town Center.
A loss prevention employee said the man staged the stolen items, which included pants, shirts, underwear and cologne, inside a suitcase in the luggage department, which he then attempted to exit with from the store.
The man was formally banned from the store. He was taken to the Dearborn police station for booking, where it was discovered that he had been arrested earlier in the day by another police department.
