MELVINDALE — A 19-year-old man was found in a parked car on Elizabeth Street near Harman Avenue the evening of Dec. 28, smelling of alcohol, with a recently discarded rum bottle, which was reported by a witness, found under the vehicle.
The man, who was angry and resistant, denied drinking. He failed to provide proof of insurance for the car, and his driver’s license was restricted to driving to work, school and for medical care, with documentation required to support his driving.
He failed a horizontal gaze nystagmus field sobriety test. A preliminary breath test produced a 0.08 blood-alcohol content, the limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
The man was cited for being in violation of his restricted driver’s license, for lack of vehicle insurance and for littering.
A search of his vehicle, which was impounded and towed, revealed a phallic-shaped marijuana pipe with residue.
