MELVINDALE — An apartment building breaking and entering attempt in the 18800 block of Allen Road was thwarted the night of Jan. 16 when a sleeping woman was awakened by the sound of someone trying to open her window, prompting her to scream, which scared off the would-be intruder.

The responding police officer saw that the window screen had been raised and discovered two latent palm prints near the attempted point of entry.

The complainant was unable to provide a description of the intruder. The window was relocked and the woman was assured that police officers would be watching the area near her apartment building.
