DEARBORN –– The Henry Ford College men’s basketball team has clinched first place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference.

The HFC Hawks will now compete for the MCCAA Championships, which will be hosted at the Athletic Memorial Building on the HFC main campus March 4, and 5, both at 3 p.m. The Hawks will take on the winner of the Northern Conference vs. Western Conference game on March 5.

The Hawks are undefeated (13-0) in the MCCAA. They have won 31 straight games against in-state community colleges over the last two years and are on an 18-game winning streak this season. The Hawks also have nine wins against Top 20 NJCAA teams.

Tickets for the games are $10 for the general public and are free for HFC students with valid identification. For questions or more information, contact Rochelle Taylor at [email protected]

The Hawks have proven themselves in the classroom as well as the hardwood this season. The team has a cumulative 3.03 grade point average. Of the 12 members, eight earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, Shepard said.

“I’m proud of our team winning the regular season championship,” Coach Chris Shepard said. “It took everyone’s best effort while doing so. The team’s effort in the classroom is a point of pride too. We still have plenty of work to do to reach our main goal of a national championship.”
