TAYLOR — A 30-year-old Taylor woman was taken into custody at 2 a.m. Feb. 27 after she punched her significant other and briefly brandished a pistol at her because the woman said she didn’t want to eventually marry her.

The victim, a 55-year-old Dearborn Heights woman, said she has been dating the younger woman for two months, and has been living with her and her two children in the 15700 block of Court Village Lane.

She said the two of them were watching the television show “Love is Blind” when the younger woman asked whether they might eventually get married. When the answer was not to her liking, she punched the older woman approximately seven times in the face and neck.

The younger woman then left the room and returned with a pistol, loading a magazine with a round in the chamber and pointing it at the older woman for about 10 seconds. The older woman stayed silent to de-escalate the situation, after which the younger woman returned the pistol to the lockbox.

The victim, who summoned police officers, said she did not wish to press charges and she declined medical treatment.

The police officers took the aggressor into custody and took the pistol and round into evidence. The pistol was legally registered to the younger woman.

The woman’s father was called to take his grandchildren to his home while his daughter was in custody.
