TAYLOR — An unlicensed woman with multiple active arrest warrants was taken into custody the night of March 25 after she stole a tow truck from J & M Towing, 8964 Inkster Road in Romulus, and crashed in into the exterior of the emergency room of Corewell Health, 10000 Telegraph Road in Taylor.

When the woman stole the tow truck, which had the key in it, an employee followed her in his personal vehicle, and spoke to police officer on the phone while in pursuit.

After the woman crashed into the exterior of the hospital, she ran into the emergency room screaming that she was being chased.

When police officers arrived at the ER, they found the tow truck with heavy front-end damage, as well as structural damage to the building.

The woman, who was unsteady on her feet and had bloodshot eyes, also had lacerations on her hands and face. She said she had recently used heroin.

A search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. She was treated at the ER, then released to police custody.

She had no prior drunken or drugged driving arrests, but did have outstanding warrants for shoplifting, providing false information to a police officer and for possession of narcotics and narcotic equipment.
