TRENTON — A man who had lost his wallet, along with his Social Security card, in the past reported April 12 that his identity had been stolen to establish a DTE account for a Trenton address on West Jefferson Avenue.
He said a DTE representative told him the account had a $1,743 balance, then asked him to file a police report to initiate a fraud investigation through the utility.
He was advised to monitor his other accounts and credit history for other fraudulent use of his identity in the future.
