ALLEN PARK — Two shoplifters with $235 in stolen groceries and sundries were apprehended June 21 after they left Meijer, 3565 Fairlane Drive, as passengers in a black Ford SUV.
Based on a description of the pair from loss prevention personnel, a traffic stop was conducted on a black Ford SUV on Outer Drive that had two people matching the suspects’ description in the back seat.
The man and woman claimed they paid for the items, but were unable to produce a receipt.
Loss prevention personnel said the pair were recorded on surveillance cameras going through the self-checkout area and only paying for $10 worth of items, and taking the rest of the goods without rendering payment.
The stolen merchandise was recovered and the man and the woman were cited for retail fraud and released at the scene.
