TAYLOR — A 34-year-old Taylor man was arrested the night of July 15 after he crashed his white 2006 Buick Lacrosse into a light pole near Van Born Road and Clippert Street while under the influence of trazodone pills.
The car had heavy front-end damage and the airbags were deployed.
An eye-witness said he saw the man swerving between lanes before he hit the light pole.
The driver who crashed his vehicle had slurred speech and was struggling to maintain his balance. He was unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test indicated that he had not consumed any alcohol.
His vehicle, which was undriveable, was impounded and towed. The man consented to a blood draw at a nearby hospital, where he stayed for medical observation due to his crash.
He was cited for driving with a suspended license and for operating under the influence of drugs.
