DEARBORN — The Henry Ford College basketball program will host St. Clair County Community College in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association Hunger Games clash Feb. 22 in the Athletic Memorial Building on the main campus, 5101 Evergreen Road.
The Hawks’ women’s team will play at 1 p.m., and the men’s team will play at 3 p.m. Admission is $10 or five canned food items.
The community can support the Hunger Games by donating canned goods and non-perishable food items at the games. If you cannot attend the game, you can still donate food by Feb. 21. Contact HFC Associate Athletic Director Kirk Bradley for pickup at [email protected].
To make a monetary donation, contact HFC Athletic Director Rochelle Taylor at [email protected] to make arrangements. All food items and funds will support The Hawks’ Nest, HFC’s student food pantry.
The MCCAA Hunger Games have been fostering a competitive spirit focused on giving back to local communities since 2014. All 24 member institutions select a home basketball game during which they encourage people to donate canned goods and non-perishable food items. The donations are tallied and delivered to their local community food pantries.
At the end of the conference season, the MCCAA crowns the winner of the contest with the Hunger Games Plaque. In 2024, the MCCAA Hunger Games provided 9,833 meals to food pantries throughout the state. HFC provided 3,531 meals and was ranked second in total meals provided for the second consecutive year.
