HEIGHTS — A Dearborn Heights man reported Feb. 28 that he received a tax form in the mail indicating that a Cash App digital wallet account had been opened in his name, with an $11,437 balance.
Digital wallet applications allow users to send, receive and save money, invest in stocks and Bitcoin, apply for loans, and file taxes, all online.
The complainant indicated that he notified Cash App, the Federal Trade Commission and the Social Security Administration of the identity theft. He was given a police report number to help him pursue his claim with Cash App.
