RIVERVIEW — A 63-year-old Trenton man was arrested Feb. 28 for operating under the influence of liquor after police searched for and found a vehicle that a 911 caller reported for stopping, swerving and reversing on Sibley Road.
The vehicle, a black Ford F-150, was being driven slowly, was stopping and starting in the roadway, and swerving between the two lanes of travel.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the man admitted to drinking earlier. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his speech was slurred and he smelled of intoxicants.
The driver struggled to retrieve his driver’s license from his wallet, and subsequently failed standardized field sobriety tests.
He refused to submit to a preliminary breath test, so a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw.
The man was found to have a prior arrest for operating while impaired. His vehicle was impounded and towed and he was taken into custody.
