SOUTHGATE — The owner of an escaped, microchipped pit bull was cited for letting her dog run at large April 1 following reports of the dog chasing children near Vanessa and Burns streets.
The dog was found by animal control officers hiding under a vehicle. Control poles with nooses were used to secure the animal.
Based on its microchip information, its owner was contacted and officers took the dog to its home. The owner said the dog escaped through an unsecured gate in the backyard.
The owner was also advised to obtain a dog license through the city.
