MELVINDALE — A 60-year-old Detroit man staying at Mel Plaza Motel reported March 29 that his red 2019 Buick Enclave was stolen, along with his wallet, car keys, $80 in cash and his cell phone.
The vehicle was recovered April 2 in St. Clair County with a set of keys and a scratch on the passenger side panel following a traffic stop.
The driver of the stolen car, a 50-year-old woman from Battle Creek, had been staying with the man at the Melvindale motel for three days prior to the vehicle theft. She was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and for cocaine possession.
The victim said $2,000 worth of unauthorized transactions occurred on his Chime account after his cell phone was stolen along with the vehicle.
