TAYLOR — Taylor Animal Shelter is running a $20 microchip special to celebrate May is National Chip Your Pet Month. That price is a savings of $5 off the regular fee of $25.
Shelter officials encourage pet owners to microchip their pets to help their safe return if they are stolen or lost.
Reasons to get your pet microchipped include:
• Permanent Identification: Chips are permanent and won’t fall off like a tag or a collar.
• Higher Chance of Recovery: Many studies show that pets that are microchipped are returned to their owner at a higher rate.
• Proof of Ownership: In cases of disputes over pet ownership a registered microchip shows the true owner.
• Cost-Effective: The minimal cost for the peace of mind is a worthy investment.
The shelter is open from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The facility is closed on Sundays.
