TAYLOR — A 32-year-old Southgate man threatened his 72-year-old father and 33-year-old fiancée — with whom he has two children — with physical violence via texts and voice mail messages June 1, expressing rage and complaining about the cost of diapers and wipes.

Police officers responded to Heritage Park Senior Village, where the man’s father lives, and where his fiancée and two children had taken refuge.

Police officers were able to read the threatening text messages and listen to threatening voice mail messages. The woman had filed a police report about the man’s violent behavior in the past, but had not pressed charges.

When the man called the location, he argued with police officers and denied making threats, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The father was advised to tell building security about his son’s threats and to physically block his doorway with a heavy object. Both were advised to seek a personal protection order against the man as well.
