WYANDOTTE – A fifth-grade student who was struck by a vehicle the morning of Sept. 4 while crossing Superior Boulevard near Washington School was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
The at-fault driver, who was arrested for driving with a suspended license, also had outstanding warrants.
Police Chief Archie Hamilton said drivers need to use due care and caution while driving near pedestrians.
“People have to use common sense when traveling in congested areas such as active school zones,” he said. “No matter what safety measures a school district implements or the amount of police presence that is around a school, people still have to drive responsibly.”
