TAYLOR — A 24-year-old Redford Township woman was cited for third degree retail fraud misrepresentation the evening of Aug. 24 after she scanned tags for cheaper items and tried to leave the store without paying the full price for items she bagged at checkout at Target, 14099 Pardee Road.
A loss prevention employee said he watched the woman select several items from the Men’s Department and conceal them in a bag that she had in her possession. He said she then went to the Children’s Department and removed tags from several items, which she used to fraudulently ring up the more expensive men’s clothing items at a self-checkout kiosk.
As she attempted to leave the store she was detained by loss prevention personnel.
The items she attempted to take without rendering correct payment were collectively valued at $198. She was cited for larceny and banned from the store.
