WYANDOTTE — A 31-year-old Wyandotte man on a bicycle pulling a wagon was subject to a traffic stop at 1 a.m. Oct. 12 near Second and Riverbank streets after a police officer noticed he did not have a light on his bicycle, as required by law.
The man, who was reluctant to talk to the police officer, turned away and reached into his waistband, which made the officer grab his arm, thinking that he was reaching for a weapon.
The two struggled, then the suspect started to run away and was pursued by the police officer, who ultimately employed his Taser to end the pursuit.
The man was then handcuffed and taken into custody, was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, a pipe for smoking it and a 7-inch meat cleaver.
